Celebrate English Wine Week with Wiston Estate

Today marks the start of English Wine Week, a time to raise a glass in celebration of the achievements and acolades of home-grown wine.

English wine has come far in a relatively short time, producing quality drinks that now stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the best artisan producers from around the world. One such winery, which we proudly champion "Upstairs at Campbell's," is the award winning Wiston Estate.




Situated in the ancient chalk downland landscape in the heart of West Sussex, Wiston Estate is a family-owned estate dating back to 1743. In 2006, the Goring family planted a south-facing 16-acre site with Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay vines and today are now one of the most celebrated wineyards in England, producing award-winning sparkling and still wines for an ever growing and appreciative customer base.



"Upstairs at Campbell's," you'll discover a wide selection of their offerings, including their best-selling, award-winning Non-Vintage Sparkling and their fabulous Fifty Summers Rosé.
 


Wiston Brut NV

The Brut NV combines a purity of green apple and ripe lemon flavours with a rich and complex maturity. This multi-vintage wine is a highly-scented sparkling wine with fine bubbles, lots of toasty, biscuity autolysis from long lees-aging and a long finish.

 


Wiston Blanc de Blancs NV

The Wiston Blanc de Blancs NV is delightfully fresh with vibrant acidity and impeccable balance. Crisp green apple and delicate notes of kumquat are leading the way with flinty minerality. The wine finishes soft, crisp and clean. Critics said this wine is made to sip by the sea with a huge plate of freshly-shucked oysters and yet also is an exceptional wine for all occasions. 

 


Wiston Estate Cuvée 2016

The 2016 Cuvée has impressive depth and complexity, with that signature precision and elegance in spades. Displaying a delightful creaminess on the finish, it’s delicious now, yet will also mature beautifully for a decade or more in the cellar.

 


Wiston Estate Blanc de Noir 2014

A wonderful example of Blanc de Noir, abundant with complex character and intensity of flavour. Aromas of lemon cake and macadamia nut deliver an inviting a sense of opulence. A round and weighty texture on the palate, abound with notes of rhubarb, dried orange and greengage. Further finesse shows through on the long finish, with hints of Himalayan pink salt and electric freshness, a subtle note of sweetness of Braeburn apple. Undeniable potential to age further.
 


Wiston Rosé NV

The Rosé NV English sparkling wine bursts with aromatic notes of rhubarb, raspberry, strawberry, redcurrant as well as wild roses, lemon zest, and a touch of sherbet on the finish. It is a superbly elegant English sparkling wine with tiny, persistent bubbles and a refreshing acidity that calls you back for more.
 


Magnum of Brut NV

For celebrating and creating memorable moments- a magnum is always the answer!

Like the bottle, the wine combines a purity of freshly cut green apple and ripe lemon flavours with a rich and complex maturity. It is built like an apple tart… with fresh zesty apples on top with a touch of caramalised glaze, a hint of indulgent cream, toasty pastry and delicate nutty notes. The finish is long, satisfying and palate-stimulating.

 


Fifty Summers Rosé

The Rosé NV English sparkling wine bursts with aromatic notes of rhubarb, raspberry, strawberry, redcurrant as well as wild roses, lemon zest, and a touch of sherbet on the finish. It is a superbly elegant English sparkling wine with tiny, persistent bubbles and a refreshing acidity that calls you back for more.
 


Tank Five Chardonnay Bacchus

Embracing creativity and endeavour, Tank Five is Wiston’s white wine made from selected parcels of grapes which their winemaking team feel will make the best still wine from each harvest. Like their English sparkling wines, this iteration it is a multi-vintage blend, with 60% being Chardonnay from the 2019 vintage, while the remaining 40% is Bacchus from 2020. The Chardonnay imparts depth and complexity, enhanced by the extended 18 months ageing in lees, while the Bacchus delivers varietal freshness.
